The Story of BBTC

Its been a much talked about stock in the past.

A story was given on CNBC TV18 when the stock BBTC was at 160 levels and Britannia was at 900.

After a year's time. BBTC is at 470 and Britannia is at 2400+.

The story was broken by Varinder Bansal with the details :

The market cap of the company is nearly Rs 1,000 crore but the total value of investments of this company is nearly Rs 6,500 crore. The stock is trading around 85 percent discount to its investments and Britannia Industries was bought into the fold as subsidiary last year.

But the news came back in 2009 when no one wondered about BBTC: Link

Consolidation of the holding of Britannia was consolidated under  Associated Biscuit International Holding which is the highest stock holder in Britannia . (Data for Dec'14)

Associated Biscuit International Holding is held by BBTC.

Recently we had Porinju Veliyath too reiterated the same fact on 04th May'15. Link

So what should BBTC be valued at ?

It is a Holding company and Holding companies trades at discount ranging between 30-60%

Britania stake is valued at 14k CR so after applying the holding company discount of 30% (Min) it comes out to be 9800CR . And the current valuation of BBTC at 467rs/sh is 3245 CR.

Recently it has been heard that Wadiya's want to consolidate the holding structure among there companies soon and that may lead to value unlocking for the BBTC stock holders as well.

Its not a recommendation. All the news items available are being consolidated and posted
